Monday Where is Everyone

    So quiet today!

GS is not feeling so great so he is staying home to capture excessive computer games....ha ha! Lunch is ready....ham and Swiss cheese sandwiches, just baked cookies, "Cuties" salad. Wednesday I really must get more creative! Tuesday is errand day, no guys here. Yay...I can fix what I want. They are ripping the other side of the carriage house free of shingles and will paper it so the roof will be ready to finish.

Pix is Mel and Fritz catching ZZZ's, no idea why it loaded upside down....maybe held the iPad weird or something? I feel like joining them. Only not upside down!

Hi, Karen I was wondering where everyone was as well! Too bad your GS is not feeling well. I hope he feels better as the day goes by. Yum! I love ham and swiss cheese sandwiches. What kind of cookies did you bake?

Glad you were able to pop in yesterday, Linda. I hope you end up with a very good friend. That would be excellent! Thinking of you. HUGS)))

    Sending safe travels today, Janet.

Well, we received some bad news this morning. Our little Camden is in CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) She has a heart murmur, a hole in her heart and a twisted aorta. Apparently, she hasn't been thriving and they have a feeding tube in and that has helped. She will need heart surgery poor wee thing she is so cute. Chris said she is a trooper and has handled all the tests very well. She is much stronger today thankfully. Tomorrow a bunch of cardiologists will have a meeting and decide what to do. She needs the hole in her heart fixed first and if they are able to fix her aorta at the same time they will have to decide if they can do that. Then she will need more surgery again in six months. Poor wee sweetheart:( We also received some good new about my nephew who had the stroke. He is doing very well now and has his driver's license back and is also back at work. We are having leftovers from the pork roast for dinner with gravy, mashed potatoes, and carrots. It is raining and quite a dreary day.
    Wishing everyone a good day!

    Hi Joce.

Poor Camden! Prayers for great progress! There have been so many advances in heart care in the past years.

Our youngest GS, now 12 and a competition swimmer, had seven holes in his heart: two big ones, 5 orher small ones, and some pinpoint ones. The two biggies needed surgery early on, if I recall they stapled one and stitched one, but I couldn't tell you for sure now....maybe stitched both? Anyhow, only his parents and we were allowed near him and she couldn't take him out, even to church. They allowed him to go to Christmas Eve service but the pastor announced that he could not be approached due to his heart trouble.

Pork roast sounds good, even leftovers are yummy.

Sorry that GS isn't feeling well Karen. Ham and swiss sounds perfect to me. Enjoy your "me" day on Wednesday.

I'm so sorry Joce. It's so hard on both the child and the parents when something like this happens. Prayers sent for a quick recovery. That's so great that your nephew has recovered and is back to work. I love leftovers, hubs not so much. Personally I like roast pork better the next day.

    Save travells Janet.

That's wonderful news Linda, it was meant to be. It would be great if the two of you hit it off, someone to bounce things off of. Hugs.

What a dreary day!! We mucked out the pond so that's ready to fill. We also spent a few hours trimming back a few trees and pulling more of that ***###!!! virginia creeper. I have ribs in the oven and will make a kale slaw and I'm not sure what else. Does anyone know how to get rid of virginia creeper without poisoning it?

I guess I better go finish dusting the sun room. We have a fire department committee meeting there this evening, well, Wayne does. I made a new recipe for cookies (not the greatest recipe but tolerable) and may slice strawberries and angel food cake also. Or skip the cookies.

Geezer has disappeared for two days. I wonder if a copperhead got him, they are everywhere after the rains drowned their habitat. Snakes are being seen in yards, even in town, don't mind black snakes or king snakes, but no copperheads please. He killed two last week, one was ten feet from the house.

The guys are finishing the roof on the carriage house now. His buddy was over around 7:30, or a bit earlier. They hope to get the paper down and covered wih boards so they can finish the roof Wednesday or Thursday. It may have to wait, his buddy got a call that his father is weak and refuses to eat. They have called in Hospice.

    Take care. Prayers for Camden.

    SP Bren.

Hmmm....how to deter the Virginia creeper? A dab of (I know, gross, toxic stuff) Roundup only the plants trespassing on your side would end all your worries. My dad used to pour salt water along the fence between him and the neighbor because the guy left the weeds grow high in his side of the fencerow, which moved toward our nicely manicured yard. It killed / halted the weeds but didn't affect the grass on either side of the fence.

It is a beautiful day, clouds rolling in and rain either tonight or in the morning.

Thanks, Karen. I know she is in good hands. CHEO is a fabulous children's hospital and they have come so far with everything now.
Thank you, Bren. I don't know much about Virgina Creeper except to keep it from climbing and cutting it back. My neighbour has Gout Weed and it started coming into our backyard. It is a very nasty invasive weed! I don't think it is allowed to be sold in Garden Centers anymore but I have seen the variegated one and told the staff not to sell it as it has been banned. We eventually landscaped the whole back yard with a few gardens left on the sides but everything else has landscape fabric and much on it with a stone path to the shed. Lol I read an article about Gout Weed and a person said if you went to the center of the earth it would probably be there. It is my nemesis! We even stapled landscape fabric on the bottom of the fence maybe a foot or so up the fence so it couldn't get through and I still get some of it but not as much as I used to. Which reminds me I should get out tomorrow and make sure I get some and other weeds.

Good afternoon all. Returned from St. Augustine about an hour ago. Had a great time and successful business end of it but glad to be home. Plus I missed my Chloe!! And oh, she was mad at me. Literally "barked" at me when I came thru the door, lol. And did her sassy prancy dance all over the house! Cayce took very good care of her though as I knew he would. Stayed at the most delightful Inn and will be our home away from home from now on as we will be making these trips on a regular basis. https://www.visitstaugustine.com/place-to-stay/edgewater-inn The staff is most gracious and really seem to have a passion for making everyone feel welcome. The breakfast this morning was out of this world. A choice of 4 different egg casseroles to choose from, sausage, toast and fresh fruit. All casseroles were homemade. Or if you didn't want that or in a addition too the hot breakfast, they had pastries of all kinds. And all the coffee and juice you wanted. Ate with a wonderful view of the town, river and Castle! They also had snacks in the afternoon and a happy hour at 5:00 with white wine and more goodies. All included with the room. All the other guests seemed delightful as well. Told them we would be regulars and they said just call ahead and we will reserve your favorite room!

Big gentle hugs and prayers for little Camden!! It's so hard when they are so little but as Karen said the advances they have made now a days are tremendous. Please keep us posted on the sweet little darling!

Hope GS is feeling better Karen and oh no on Geezer! Sure hope he turns up soon!

Probably just snacking tonight as we had a late lunch on the road and still feels like a rock in our gut, lol! I really don't like eating on the road!

Hello to all and enjoy the rest of the day.

SP Karen. Copperheads! I would be scared to death! I am absolutely petrified of any snake let alone a poisonous one! We don't have any poisonous snakes here thank goodness. Sounds like the Fire Department meeting will enjoy their treats. I have used Vinegar to kill weeds it might help with Virginia Creeper I don't know.

Yikes on the snake Karen, I don't like things that slither. Fingers crossed for Geezers return. Nice treats for the meeting, lucky guys. I'm not sure that I can get that here but the problem is that there is a retaining wall between us and the stuff spills over the fence and into my pond. I've pulling what I can but it seems endless. I guess that the only solution is to keep whacking at it. I have weeds coming at me from both sides.

Your back yard sounds similar to mine Joce. I made borders with flag stone and have river stone in other areas. Yes, gout weed is nasty stuff. I have Jerusalem artichoke from next door as well as some strange vine that chokes out plants. Thanks,

That sounds wonderful Kimmer and amazing food too. Lol @ Chloe, she'll get over it in no time.

I was locked out for a few minutes and really wish that someone would take charge and do something about that.

So cute Chloe reacted to your absence. She will acclimate to trips just fine. Rescue used to get miffed if I didn't let her on my lap. She climb on Wayne's lap, knead away, purr, then peek out the corner of her eye to see if I was watching.

I would just put herbicide on the weeds and if they are trespassing on my property so be it! We don't have to worry about that in the country, nearest neighbor is half a mile away. In Georgia we fought Kudzu for years, pulling it up constantly....it appeared out of nowhere. It finally stopped growing, very nasty vine that covers whole farms including the buildings if not attacked with a vengeance.

Best go. The committee will be here shortly. See you later.

Oh my Joce, so sorry to hear about Camden. Prayers to the little angel and family to get thru it as stress free as possible. Do keep us updated on her progress.
It is fantastic to hear your nephew is doing so well. Good for him and I wish him continued success with his recovery.

Hope your GS feels better Karen. He is an inspiration, did not know about his heart health. Yikes on all the copperhead snakes, I hope Geezer shows up unharmed.

At least you won the battle with your pond Bren, hoping you win over the invasive weeds. I'm so glad I don't have to take care of a yard anymore, I hate yard work.

I bet Chloe did miss you a Kimmer and she will forgive you soon. They are funny. Your get away sounded fabulous!

Wish me luck, I pick up DH from the hospital tomorrow afternoon and take him to the new place. He better accept this time in his life.

Geezer is back. He is not visibly injured, may have a snake bite or ?? Poisoned. He moves slowly and is very weak. Came up to the house and lay in the grass. I could pick him up with no problem. He is resting in a large cage / crate in the garage with water and food, just a little food in case he gets hungry. Will call the vet in the morning. He lay down in the crate and purred when I put him there.
