Mucky Monday

    Good Morning Everyone.

Looks like a Mucky Yucky day. It's overcast and gloomy. I know wet weather is going to come thru from Tropical Storm/Hurricane Michael and I'll have to check the weather report for more information.
The inspector is coming today to inspect the hurricane shutters. The "window of arrival" is all day! I hope he comes early so I'm not sitting around all day waiting.
I do want to get to the grocery store either later today or tomorrow and hopefully when it's not raining. I hate lugging groceries in the rain.
Other than that looks like a quiet day here.
Picture attached is that of a recent sunset. I love the pink ones!

Good Afternoon everyone! Didn`t get the best sleep last night but we have nothing on our schedule today and I have so many leftovers I certainly don`t need to cook, so I`m good. :) There`s a Sens Hockey Game on starting now so that`s a bonus too.

Our niece is 16 Linda. She is spoiled and mouthy, rude and sneaky and she`s just not a nice person. IMHO. We`ve seen them three times this year which I can handle and it`s not usually that often, so.......

Very cool on the Death Chicken recipe. I`ve bookmarked it and look forward to giving it a try. Lovely photo of the sunset! Nice that the Inspector showed up early so you are free to do whatever you want to for the rest of the day.

Our company left around noon. I made ham, cheese, onion, mushroom and tomato omelettes for breakfast.

My girlfriend and her family stayed `til about 11 last night. It was SO nice to have them join us. This friend and I have been buddies since 1975 and so it was really special to have her sit beside me for Turkey dinner after all these years. Her daughters (35 and 33?) are lovely young women. Dinner went fine. My turkey was a tad overdone. There was lots of food. I`ve got enough turkey left to make Hot Turkey sandwiches for dinner, some soup and probably a bit more besides. Lots of ham left. Everyone was two of us had dessert. Apple crisp was the fave. We used the second leaf in our dining room table for the very first time ever. It was still wrapped in plastic! We managed to fit ten people around quite comfortably which was great.

I refuse to do dishes after dinner, especially big ones like Christmas and Thanksgiving, so you can imagine the mountain of dishes that greeted me when I walked in to the kitchen this morning. Jim and I both worked at it and had it cleaned up in time to get breakfast going. I did a quick sweep after Jim`s brother and fam left and on the whole the house looks pretty much back to normal.

It was a busy weekend. It went well but I`m glad it`s over. :)

Joce, did you have a good Thanksgiving?

Hope the hurricane doesn't hit near you, Linda! At least you have the shutters inspected - yay on being early.

Surprised the parents don't crack down on your neice's bad manners -- well, no, not really surprised! So many never do exercise parental responsibility. Guess I am not so tolerant and would just not re-invite for a while. Ha ha. Usually the "bad age" for girls starts around 13. Surprised we survived daughter's teenage years. LOL!

Sounds like Thanksgiving went well with your girl friend. Ugh on dishwashing....even with a dishwasher it seems worse after holiday cooking!

Weird? Where did my post go?
Oh well! Glad the inspector came and you didn't have to wait all day for him, Linda. I heard "Michael" has been downgraded to a tropical storm now, so I hope it doesn't do any damage. Love the pic of the skies! Beautiful!

We just had a very laid back day and had roast pork with all the fixings for dinner last night, Janet. Den is off for two weeks on vacation so he is enjoying relaxing for a change. Too bad about your niece:( I feel very fortunate that my GD's are very polite and nice kids. So far that is and crossing my fingers that continues. Wow, I would have expected you of all people would have used your leaf in your dining room table before now! Considering the amount of entertaining you do. Glad everything turned out well.

We are having a repeat of last night's dinner again tonight.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Thanks for all the Thanksgiving Wishes.

We`ve never thought much of how Jim`s brother and SIL have raised either of their children Karen. They have always tip toed around their kids and there are never consequences. Benjamin was raised a lot differently. We went all out for their daughter and French Exchange student, driving and touring them all over Ottawa, cooking lovely meals and treats, etc. and you know the Exchange student didn`t even say thank you once! Our niece said `Thank you for having us` when she left. Shaking head.

Glad you had a laid back day Joce. How nice Den is off on vacation for two weeks. Both Jim and I prefer to entertain small group of guests as opposed to larger crowds. That way I can make fancier things and have more one on one time with people. Having a large amount of people sometimes makes me feel like I`m just the Cook and servant.

Sounds like you are in good shape and ready for a peaceful evening tonight Janet. Happy to hear dinner was great and all was enjoyed. Your niece sounds like one of mine. Only my youngest sister had children, 2 girls, and the youngest one was and still is a nightmare. She is in her young 20s and we are all very surprised she hasn't landed herself in jail or worse. She lives in NC so I never see her anyhow.

Been on the phone trying to sort thru health insurance policies with a new carrier and it's clear as mud the 3 plans available. It'll take me at least another month to really understand the ins-and-outs and make a decision. I think they make them so complicated on purpose.

We had a little rain pass thru. Got out to the grocery store for some items I needed/wanted and had them make us sandwiches for lunch. Of course I'm still stuffed and will make DH something for dinner but I have no desire to eat and will pick on something light.

    Hello all
It was nice having he girls home for the long weekend. They went back this morning after bagels and coffee. And no Janet they were not celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving Lol today is Columbus Day and the girls did not have school.
After they left I went into work. Columbus Day isn’t a paid holiday and I had a bunch of stuff to do. We are buying a 20 unit property in OH at work and it’s been a nightmare since the beginning including but not limited to the contractor we hired telling me to Go F myself after I ordered all the supplies to be delivered for renovations. So supplies but no contractor and no one to take delivery of said supplies and me being In MA and property being in OH doesn’t make the situation any easier. And that was just one fire lol the list goes on.
Probably leftovers for dinner. It I’m craving soup so I may make pastina and broth and Frank can have leftovers.
Twisted my ankle this morning. Just tweaked it damn chipmunks they make holes all over the place and I stepped down wrong into one of them. Currently sitting with ice
Janet have I mentioned lately how jealous I am of your hot tub.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Glad your Thanksgiving with your company went well Janet. I bet you are pooped! Enjoy your peaceful evening. Health insurance is awful trying to understand what benefits and all. Good luck with that Linda! Nice on your Thanksgiving as well Joce! Hi Karen!

Making a sausage tortellini soup tonight. Not sure if dinner rolls or garlic bread. Will see what hits me, lol.

Enjoy the rest of the day all.

Oh yum on Sausage Tortellini soup Kimmer. You and Laurie have me craving soup now big time.

Well, soup turned out great. Boys liked it, even Benny who does not normally like soup of any kind. Hubs said the tortillini was not cooked thru. I say it was and was delightful. He mocks me anytime I make anything regarding pasta and saying I don't know how to cook pasta. He likes his like mush............well, I don't............I like mine al dente with that bit of bite in. Boys too so we win, lol!

SP Joce. Hi Kimmer. Ugh on your Ohio property beimg a pain, Laurie.

Expecting storms tomorrow so will be bringing GS back from swimming rather than having the young (to me, anyway) and experienced driver tote him. Just in case the weather turns bad.

All is quiet. Watching "Alaska the Last Frontier." Beautiful scenery but I don't think I will try snowmobiling in bitter cold in the near future.
