Sugar Bush Sunday!

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! It's a lovely sunshiny blue sky morning here in the Ottawa Valley. Jim suggested we drive to a Sugar Bush today and see the sights. "Fulton's" is close by
    http://www.fultons.ca/
and they have some nature trails and such for us to stroll on. We'll eat breakfast first. :)

Had a nice time at the Roger's Hometown Hockey events at Lansdowne Park yesterday afternoon. I cooked up a frozen lasagna I had in the freezer from cleaning out Jim's Dad's fridge last Nov. for lunch before we went. It took FOREVER to cook. The girls loved it but Jim and I thought it tasted like &^%$*. Ugh. Anyway, it didn't go to waste and there's a bit left that I'll feed to the crows. Jim and I headed home after the Hockey Event and our guests headed to her brother's for the night to pick up her Dad who was staying there and then they'll head back to St. Catharine's this morning. I do not envy them that long drive.

Jim and I just ate up the leftover ribs for dinner last night and I made a pasta salad with the leftover orzo I had. Watched the Sens Game but we lost. :( We play again this evening.

Not sure what to make for dinner tonight. If we head out early enough we can be back home for lunch as I have a ton of Beef Dip left.

    Shona? You doing okay?

    Have a good day everyone!

I am glad you had a great time at Roger's Hometown Hockey event yesterday, Janet. We aren't fans of frozen lasagna either at least any of the ones we have tried so far. I like my own homemade one but it is such a time-consuming task. I rarely do it anymore. Have fun at Fulton's today. I have never been there. Too bad we didn't win last night:( Lol I couldn't believe Don Cherry's St. Patrick's Day suit! What a joke! Have a great day.

We are doing laundry today and I think we will have pork chops for dinner which is easy peasy for me to do.

    Wishing everyone a pleasant Sunday!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a beautiful start to the day here too ... clear blue skies, cool temps which I'm sure will warm up, and already have a window open for fresh air.

How cool on Fultons Janet. Looks like a great place to visit. And nice to hear you enjoyed the hockey event. Oh No on the lasagna, at least the girls enjoyed it. Who made it?? Was it bad because it wasn't made well or bad because it was in the freezer too long?

I fried up a package of bacon for the bean soup I'll make today. I do the whole package and then what I don't need I have bacon crumbles for something else.
Think tonight I'll grill up Salmon, time for a fish rotation for dinner. Not sure of the sides, will look in the fridge and see what needs to be used first.

Nothing much else going on. I'm feeling kinda lazy and not much in the mood to do a lot.

Good luck with the laundry Joce. Yum on pork chops for dinner. It's so nice out today hey!
Fulton's does it up well. Our friends have decided to join us so that'll be fun. Jim even said we'd meet them for lunch, which is amusing. I perused the menu and other than pancakes they do have crustless quiche and beans. :)

Ahhhhh on your open windows Linda. Take a deep breath in for me please. :) The lasagna was a frozen one. President's Choice. Bleck. It was bad because it had crappy ingredients IMHO. No freezer burn. Yum on all the bacon frying. :) I'm also envying you your Bean & Bacon soup. Yum on salmon as well. Sunday is a day of rest after all. Do that. :)

    Happy Sunday Everyone.
Reading back to catch up. Linda you can also try to find a YouTube video on how to make the repair. That's what Frank does lol.
Friday I went to a restaurant called the Bancroft with the work Attorneys Nick and Rob. High end. I got the Ahi tuna but I was eyeing the lobster risotto. I tasted nicks and it was good! Then Frank and I went to a 50th birthday party for someone from running club. We never really been close friends but we have the same friends and our kids are friends but then when she joined the club we got to be friends (make sense). Frank was like why are we here lol it was all the people from Wilmington with kids our age so it isn't like he didn't know anyone. I had a lot of fun. I danced all night. It was at a place called Scoreboard and they had this entertainer Jim Plunket. He gets the crowd going with all the older songs like from Grease to Footloose and then old journey songs stuff you can't help but to sing along to. So much fun!
Yesterday we went to my friend Kim's for boiled dinner. I had a little too much wine. Lol
Now I am getting ready to take Rachel back to school. Weekends go by so fast. I have no grocery shopping done and I only did one load of laundry. I need an assistant to help me lol.

Made an awesome mushroom, onion, ham and cheddar omelette for brekkie. Heading to the Sugar bush now. Called my Mom and she sounds great. She's feeling better and one of my awesome cousins has arranged to go over and help her a couple of days a week with laundry and stuff. I have the best relatives ever.

That's great your mom is feeling better. She's one tough lady!! and nice you have family near to help.
Bean and Bacon soup is made and the mess is cleaned up. I didn't think I was in the mood for it but when I had a bowl it hit the spot and was delicious!
Need to get some papers off my desk ... uuggh, I guess I should do it and stop procrastinating.

Good afternoon everyone. I haven't been to the sugar bush since the children were little. Sounds like the perfect outing for a sunny Sunday, enjoy. If I remember correctly there used to be a Fulton's at Billingsbridge. I've never cared for frozen lasagna either, you may as well eat cardboard. You do have great family, so helpful.
Don Cherry is a joke, Joce. He's loud and abrasive and I wish that they would find someone else. I should be doing laundry as well but it will have to wait.
I can't wait to throw open the windows, Linda. I love the sound of your soup. It's still too cold for me to grill salmon, sounds delish.
Lobster risotto sounds decadent, Laurie. I love the sound of the entertainment, I would so enjoy something like that.
Dinner will be roast beef but I have no idea about the sides yet.
Ok, Janet, you've sold me on an omelette. I'm off to the kitchen to see what I can russell up.

Glad your soup turned out really good, Linda. Oh, I wish we could open up the windows and get some fresh air but unfortunately, it is too cold!

Laurie, you had a great weekend! I would have ordered the lobster risotto in a heart beat! Sending safe travels your way and I hope Rachel is feeling much better.

I am not sure if it was Fulton's at Billingsbridge or not, Bren. I remember there was a pancake house there, though. Lol things have changed so much in Ottawa since I was a kid. I still know my way around but not the suburbs. I remember having to pay an extra five cents on the bus to get to Carlingwood Shopping Center and walking to Westgate Mall after it opened. Lol I am old! Yum! Roast beef is always a favourite around here!

Now I remember! There was a Smitty's Pancake House at Billingsbridge. I wish they would replace Don Cherry too!

You are correct, Joce, it was Smitty's. You must have lived in my area because I'm between Westgate and Carlingwood. I vaguely remember you mentioning Sherwood Ave? Did you know that they are planning on taking Westgate down and building three towers?
Lol, my sister used to treat me to Smitty's pancakes on Sunday morning if I went to church with her, I hadn't thought of that in years.

Yes, I lived on Sherwood Drive between Hinton Ave and Hamilton Ave. Sad I knew they were taking Westgate down. I remember when it was built! You probably went to Fisher Park Highschool? I did from grade 10 on. I also went to Elmdale School.

    Hi Joce, Janet, Linda, Bren.

Frozen lasagna can be okay, passable, tolerable etc. or terrible, blech, etc..stouffers is tolerable. Kids might like it bec. they are, well, kids! GS would live on spaghetti if he could. I am sure the crows will be happy. We got some on a rare occasion.

Daughter is almost home....the father of one of the swimmers in the group took a look at the car and said she could drive it home. Either a bearing somewhere to do with a pulley or in the power steering or manifold or exhaust leak. Wayne will take a look and take it to a mechanic friend to check. I suggest replacing belts anyhow as they are original, we think. We are at her house waiting for to get back.

I could use a good nap. Ha ha. See you later.

Good evening all. My hubs does you tube video's too for fixing things. Hey, he fixed my last car that way!!

Dinner last night at PF Chang's didn't happen. Got there and the place was packed!! Hour and forty minute wait! Said no thanks! I asked the one hostess that I know. (don't know her cause I go there that much but she is the daughter of a friend and happened to see her working last night) She said, spring break Kim! Didn't even think about that! And our PF Chang is at the local mall so yep, that explains it. Ended up going to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Which have been to many times and usually good. Well, not so much last night, lol. My meal was ok but rice was burned. Hubs had a seafood dish and shrimp was way over cooked. And then the cook plopped a big glob of noodles on my plate after I specifically told him no I did not want any. Kind of ruined the rest of my meal. What was irritating is the only reason the rice was burned was he was showing off with a knife trick (which was a bit disconserting in itself) which he kept getting wrong, and not paying attention to what he was cooking! Just cook my damn food and quit trying to possibly slice everyone's throat with your stupid trick, lol! Anyway, was still nice to get out and had a lovely chat with a couple from Britain sitting next to us. So not a total loss.

Dinner tonight is steak and baked potato. Steak our way with mushrooms, garlic and onions smoothered on top! Deelightful!!

Enjoy the rest of Sunday and Sleep Sweet.............as always.................
