Planning a party

  • jencathen 15 years ago
Well I'm planning a party that isn't going to be a Tapas party and I found all my old appetizer and dip recipes that I had collected and have tried before. So I'll be posting those up. I won't be using them all for my party, but it just brought to mind that I haven't shared any of these. Most come from Bell South Cookbook and Philidelphia cream cheese cookbook.

Hey Diva! I'm planning it for when I'm going back to MS the first week in August. My Mom and my Grandma just aren't great at planning. The list looks like this:

Me, Hubby and 2 boys age 7 and 9.
    Mother and Daddy
    Maw Maw (My Mother's Mom)
Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Bonnie (My Mother's Brother)
Cousin Tammy, Boyfriend, girls ages 7 and 9, son age 15 (Uncle Jimmy's daughter)
Cousin Bo and wife Tracey and daughter age 9 (Uncle Jimmy's son)
Aunt Carol and Uncle Russ, their grandson age 6 (My Mother's Sister)
    So looks like 20.

I'm going to hit my Mom up to make the Seafood Gumbo. Tracey is making shrimp etoufee. We are also grilling chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers.
I'm making Deviled Eggs and some dips along with making veggie trays. I haven't decided anything else at this time. Any ideas. We are a very laid back southern family. We'll be eating at my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Bonnie's as they have plenty of property and swing set and horse shoe pit.

holy potato batgirl! You are doing it up! My kind of party -and that is some sort of guest list...wish I had a large family - come from a small family - so my extended family of friends are usually who show up at my parties....

sounds like you got everything under control....I would love to see the seafood gumbo recipe - I bet it is fantastic

I was born in MS, Biloxi in fact... :-)

No way! My parents now live in Wiggins, MS as do my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Bonnie and my Maw Maw. The rest live in Gulfport and D'Iberville. I was born in Biloxi. The old hospital on back bay. I went to St. Martin High school.

Growing up I lived on Seaman road which is in Jackson county right near I-10. What a small world this is.

Here in TX I do not have any family. My BF and her fiancee live nearby and than we have my husbands work partner and his wife which we have become close too and some neighbors. So my parties here are small. But I'll make more friends now that I'm getting out a bit more. hehe
