not yet, there's lots of stuff that can fill you up - but I dunno of anything that satisfies if you have a meat craving.

Beans and rice fill me up pretty good - so anything with beans probably. As you probably already know salads not a winner - except if it has beans on it.

OH! send me a message and maybe I can copy a recipe for a taco salad I have - instead of meat it has beans, it's super easy to make, low-fat and tastes great. It's not my own recipe, so I don't think I can post it on here.

Also - anything with potatoes or lots of bread.

I was interested in this group because I am pseudovegetarian and my boyfriend is, shall we say carnivorous. I like to cook food, but I hardly ever cook meat. In fact, I don't remember the last time I did. So, I want to make food for him and me that will satisfy him as well as make me happy that I don't have to eat meat.

Do you have a Chili's in your area? If so - I recommend the black bean burger. I absolutely hate most veggie burgers - but this isn't veggie - it's just black bean burger. You get to eat a whole burger that tastes good without the meat.

(It's under the lean or w.e. section of their menu, and the whole meal is $6 and some odd cents...)

sorry - I just remembered. I know that you can get black bean burger patties from Safeway - but they're expensive, so I'm gonna look for a recipe for them. Perhaps there's a recipe for them on here.

hi, this is also in response to the not missing meat -

there are meat-type veggie stuffs out there.

My family and I just had a dinner with salad and pigs in a blanket. Only instead of hot dogs, we used smart dogs veggie protein links. To my suprise, they were actually really good (for hot-dog like food that is - I was never a big fan of hot dogs).

So just thought I'd update you on that. The brand I think is called LightLife. You can probably find it at Safeway, etc. It does cost more than regular hot dogs, I believe, but in my opinion, these smart dogs taste better too. Not like bocca burgers or garden burgers (yuck!).

I really like the frozen black bean burgers that you can get. I can't remember the brand. I'm not vegetarian but I don't mind eating non meat-y foods. I'm a little nervous to try some of the fake meat stufff without endorsements b/c I've tried some stuff that were really yucky to me and they're so much more expensive than your usual stuff. Will try the smart dogs! I also have a lot of friends who are vegetarian so I don't want to completely leave them out. Post the taco salad - just say where you got it from, a lot of people post recipes from somewhere else. Yeha I'm thinking about making some veggie fajitas for my friends b/c I was sad to hear they'd never had fajitas. Will let you know how it goes.

I just discovered BBQ tempeh! You can buy tempeh at any health food store. I don't have a recipe (it simply listed tempeh, canola oil and BBQ sauce) but there are a couple on here that look pretty tastie!
The cool thing about tempeh is that it has a VERY meat like texture - even my meat only husband loved it! The way this particular dish was prepared it even had lil charred bits on it just like BBQ pork would have! :D Yumm! It's also soy so you get all that awesome goodness PLUS near meat flavor.
