Sirups Kager (danish Brown Spice Cookies) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps cinnamon .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1 c dark corn syrup .
  • 1 tsp ground cloves .
  • 3 3/4-4 c flour .
  • 1 c butter or margarine (softened) .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda, mixed with 1 tsp water

Directions
  • Step #1 In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter or margarine, sugar & corn syrup.
  • Step #2 When well mixd, stir in the cinnamon, cloves & baking soda mixture.
  • Step #3 Slowly add flour & mix well after each addition until dough becomes stiff.
  • Step #4 Cover up dough with plastic wrap & put in the fridge until firm, approximately one hr.
  • Step #5 This time is included in the preparation time.
  • Step #6 Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
  • Step #7 On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
  • Step #8 Using a reindeer or desired shaped cookie cutter, cut shapes into dough.
  • Step #9 Dough can also be rolled into logs about 1-inch in diameter & sliced crosswise into 1-inch-thick rounds.
  • Step #10 Bake on ungreased cookie sheets until lightly browned, about 8 to 10 mins.
