Mom's Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef .
  • 1 (12 oz) can tomato paste .
  • 1/2 tsp pepper .
  • 1 tsp sugar .
  • red wine .
  • 1 tsp dried parsley .
  • 1 tsp garlic powder .
  • 3/4 c onions (sliced) .
  • 1/2 tsp oregano .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded .
  • 2 c water .
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz) can sliced tomatoes (undrained) .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles .
  • 1 c parmesan cheese, grated .
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large skillet, brown ground beef & sliced onion in olive oil.
  • Step #2 Pour the can of tomatoes with juice into a two c measuring c & add enough red wine to fill the c to the two c line.
  • Step #3 Add the tomatoes, wine, parsley, pepper, tomato paste, salt, garlic powder, water, sugar, & oregano to the skillet.
  • Step #4 Stir.
  • Step #5 Simmer uncovered for 30 mins, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #6 If you're using regular lasagna noodles, cook & drain them.
  • Step #7 If you're using the oven ready ones, go to the next step.
  • Step #8 Spread 3/4 c sauce in a 9x13 pan.
  • Step #9 Add a layer of noodles, mozzerella, ricotta, then layer with sauce, & parmesan.
  • Step #10 Repeat layers until you get to your last set of noodles.
  • Step #11 End with sauce, mozzerella, & parmesan.
  • Step #12 If you're using regular noodles, bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 mins.
  • Step #13 If you're using oven ready noodles, cover with foil wrap & bake this at 375 degrees for 30 mins, then uncover & bake another 10 to 15 mins.
  • Step #14 Let stand 10 mins before cutting & serving.
