Crawfish Etouffee Like Maw Maw Used To Make Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/8 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 16 oz cleaned crawfish tails
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 onions, minced
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 c butter
  • 1/8 tsp hot sauce
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 In a stock pot, melt butter over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #2 When butter is bubbling, add flour to make a roux, stirring constantly to prevent or remove any lumps.
  • Step #3 Cook the roux for 5 mins.
  • Step #4 Do not brown.
  • Step #5 Stir in onions & bell peppers; saute 10 mins, or until onions are translucent.
  • Step #6 Add garlic, & saute for 3 mins.
  • Step #7 Stir in crawfish tails.
  • Step #8 Slowly pour in enough water to reach a little thicker than soup-like consistency.
  • Step #9 Spice up with cumin, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, & salt & pepper.
  • Step #10 Reduce heat, & let simmer for 10 mins.
