How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease and flour a 9x13 in. pan
  • Melt butter in a large saucepan
  • Remove from heat
  • Stir in brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar until well combined
  • Add eggs, one at a time, stirring until blended
  • Stir in vanilla
  • Combine Baking powder, salt 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and flour
  • Add to sugar mixture, stirring until well blended
  • Stir in apples and nuts
  • Pour into baking pan
  • Stir together remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over batter
  • Bake for about 45 minutes
  • Good with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
