Pretty Poached Pears

- 4 pears,firm shopping list
- 1 Bottle red wine shopping list
- 3/4 Cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch shopping list
- 2 Tablespoon water shopping list
- mint leaves shopping list
How to make it
- Peel pears,leaving stem in place.
- Cut bottom of each pear to set square.
- Place pears in bowl with water and lemon juice.
- In saucepan,that will hold all pears,combine the wine,sugar,and vanilla,bring to boil.
- Add pears,cover with double layers of waxed paper.
- Steam over low heat for about 25 to 30 minutes.
- Remove pears from wine,stand on plate,cool.
- Mix cornstarch and water,add to the boiling wine syrup.
- Stir and boil until thick,remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Combine the wine syrup and pears,refrigerate.
- When ready to serve,place one pear for each guest into a nice crystal dessert dish,pour sauce over,placing fresh mint leaves atop.
