Saucepan Brownies Recipe
Note: these are kind of flat but delicious fudgy brownies. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream . I like these for the ease of preparation - made in the pan and baked in the oven, and kids love them

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • some chopped nuts ( optional )
  • Vanilla ice cream

Directions
  1. In a saucepan over lowest heat melt the chocolate and butter until melted and smooth.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Mixture should be warm.
  4. Beat in the eggs and then the sugars.
  5. Combine flour and baking powder and beat into mixture to blend.
  6. Stir in some nuts if using.
  7. Place mixture into a greased 9 inch square pan.
  8. Bake in a 350F oven until center tests almost done ( wet crumbs okay ) about 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Cool to warm, cut in pan and cool completely.
  10. Chill well and cut.
