Irish Banoffee Pie Recipe

Irish Banoffee Pie Recipe
I have not made this recipe for banoffee pie because of the cooking method of the filling. I can see myself scraping filling off the ceiling! If you try it and it works, let me know! Thanks.

Ingredients
  • Graham Cracker Crust:
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup turbinado sugar or (brown sugar)
  • 3 Tsp. ground ginger
  • Filling:
  • 1 (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups whipping cream

Directions
  1. For crust: Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter, and ginger until well blended. Press mixture into a nine-inch pie plate and cool in refrigerator.
  2. For filling: In a saucepan, boil an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk!) in water for three hours. Monitor closely to make sure there is always water in the pan. Remove can from heat and let cool 10 to 15 minutes. Open can and pour toffee into pie crust. Allow to cool.
  3. Slice bananas over toffee.
  4. Whip the two cups of cream and spoon on top of bananas.
  5. Refrigerate before serving.

I have never boiled an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk and I don't know what the results would be??? Could be catastrophic 8-0 but I have had Banoffee pie and I love it. HIGH 5!

This sounds great!! As far as boiling the can of condensed milk goes, check out the recipe posted by Troutwhisperer "Thee Best Caramel" - about 3 months ago. Apparently it works really well! :) ^5

Thanks Madmommy for your reassurance. Now if I could only cook it outside...
