Meatloaf Pie Recipe
This is an alternative to traditional meat pies and meatloaf, I like to serve with fresh salad and corn on the cobb - just a little something different to spice up an ordinary weeknight dinner

Ingredients
  • 1 recipe for a 9" double crust pie
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 med onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package onion soup mix (I sift out the onions as I use fresh onion)
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup old cheddar cheese shredded

Directions
  1. brown ground beef with fresh onion, garlic, salt and pepper
  2. once browned add BBQ sauce, ketchup, onion soup mix and worcestershire sauce
  3. place mixture into pie shell lined with pastry
  4. top with shredded cheddar cheese
  5. cover with pastry - be sure to slice top crust for venting
  6. bake at 350 F for 35-45 minutes or until pastry is golden brown
  7. let stand 5 minutes before slicing and serving
