Moms Spaghetti Sauce

This is my mom's homemade spaghetti sauce. I grew up loving this stuff and there's nothing like homemade. Be sure to add your own love to the recipe
Ingredients
- 1 medium onion- diced shopping list
- 1/2 lg bell pepper- diced shopping list
- 3 lg cans tomato sauce 23 oz shopping list
- 1 small can tomato paste shopping list
- 1/2 C. sugar shopping list
- 3 tsp oregano shopping list
- 3 tsp basil shopping list
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- 1 can sliced mushrooms shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan
- Bring to a boil
- Reduce heat to simmer
- With 6 kids my Mom mixed the sauce into the spaghetti to ensure everyone got sauce with the pasta, but you can serve it seperate if you want. : )
- For a meaty sauce -
- Brown ground beef, drain and add to sauce while simmering
