How to make it

  • In a large soup pot, cook the beef over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain. Add the onions, garlic and salt and pepper. Cook 5 minutes.
  • Add the water, potatoes, squash, bouillon, bay leaves, chili powder, pepper, allspice and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  • Note: The sweet potato and squash will be soft at this point.
  • Add the tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes are warmed through.
  • Serve
