How to make it

  • Cook macaroni and drian well
  • In a soup kettle melt 1 cup butter
  • Stir in flour and and salt and stir smooth,
  • gradually stir in milk,.
  • Bring to a boil, cooking and stirring about 2 minutes until thickened and then reduce heat
  • Add cheese, stirring to melt
  • Add drained macaroni to sauce
  • Divide into 3, 9 x 13 pans
  • Melt remaining butter and toss with bread crumbs
  • Sprinkle over pans
  • Bake uncovered 350F 35 to 40 minutes or golden brown on top
