Easy Homemade Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

8 ounces pizza dough (from a a deli -- I try to find whole wheat)

2 tablespoons thick corn meal

8 oz. can crushed tomatoes (low sodium) (this is really 1/2 of a 16 oz. can)

1 tsp. oregano

1 tsp. thyme

1/2 tsp. onion powder

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 cups mixed shredded cheese (mozzerela, cheddar, parmesian)

1/2 cup sliced sweet onion

1/4 pound sweet italian chicken sausage

1 to 1 1/2 cup sliced crimini mushrooms

shredded parmesian to put on cooked pizza

Directions

Let pizza dough rise at room temp. according to package directions (about 45 min.)

mix crushed tomotoes with herbs, salt and pepper (for pizza sauce)

heat oven to 425 degrees, with 15 inch pizza stone in oven ( to heat it up)

crumble and brown sausage in a small skillet

after dough has risen, either roll it out or "spin it thin" (I hold it up with my hands and turn it through my hands in a round shape to about 15 inches)

when oven has gotten to 425 degrees, take out pizza stone and sprinkle corn meal around and put rounded dough on it and return to oven for 3 minutes.

Remove crust from oven, spread pizza sauce on evenly

spread cheese on top

spread cooked sausage on top

spread onions and mushrooms on top

return to oven and cook for about 12 minutess

put shredded parmesian on top
