Beef Stew

- 1 1/2 lbs stewing beef shopping list
- 2 tbls flour shopping list
- 3 cups tomato juice shopping list
- 1/2 cup chicken stock shopping list
- 2 tsp Kitchen Bouquet (can subsitute 2 beef oxo cubes) shopping list
- 2 tbls oil shopping list
- 1/2 tsp basil flakes shopping list
- 1/2 tsp oregano flakes shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 2 finely chopped garlic cloves shopping list
- 2 cups carrots shopping list
- 2 cups potatoes shopping list
- 1/2 cup diced onion shopping list
- 1 cup celery shopping list
- salt shopping list
- pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Put the flour In a plastic bag and coat stewing beef pieces. Brown in oil. Add tomato juice, onions, garlic, bayleaf, 2 tsp kitchen bouquet, basil and oregano and bring to a boil. reduce heat , cover and simmer for 1 & 1/2 hours. Add carrots, potatoes and celery (cut to your preferred size) and simmer another 1/2 hour.
- Serve with crusty bread for an excellent winter dish.
- I cook this on the stovetop in a 4 quart skillet with lid.
