How to make it

  • Melt butter in a saucepan on low heat, saute onion and garlic until softened. Stir in cumin (add turmeric after you've added lentils and covered with water.) Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about half an hour. You may need to add more water if it gets dry.
  • Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and salt and black pepper before serving with rice.
