How to make it

  • Mix ingredients in mixer with batter paddle. Combine completely but do not over beat.
  • Bake in an ungreased 15 x 11 pan (jelly roll)
  • Bake @ 350 for 25 minutes
  • Raisins and nuts may be added (no one wants them in our house)
  • Cool completely before adding frosting.
  • Cream the butter and cream cheese in mixer with paddles set on medium high for up to two minutes, add vanilla (and bean if using)
  • Slowly add powered sugar, reducing speed on mixer while adding, try 1/2 cup at a time. Scrape down sides and fold into mixture.
  • Make sure cake/bars are completely cooled before frosting.
  • Cut into small bars, the flavor is intense and you will find people gobbling these up and making excuses as to why they need to take a few home.

No, not enough butter in there for Paula. My Aunt, rest her soul, was a Math Teacher in Minnesota.
