Basic Grain Cookery - Quinoa

- 1/4 cup quinoa shopping list
- 3/4 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- Rinse quinoa in a fine strainer until water runs clear (not soapy-looking).
- Bring water to a boil, add salt to taste.
- Add grain, reduce heat to medium-low.
- Cover and cook 20 minutes.
- Let stand off the heat, covered, for 10 minutes.

Another thing I have started doing is toasting the quinoa after rinsing. Put into medium hot pan, stir quinoa continuously until golden, it will make a popping sound. Then cook as usual, seems to give it a nice mellow taste.
