This is a great group project. For camp or any activity ~have someone bring an ingredient , prepare together and enjoy this yummy healthy treat!!

Ingredients
  • 2 cans pineapple chunks
  • 1 can sliced peaches
  • 1 can pears
  • 4 bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup grapes
  • 1 qt. strawberries
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup marshmallows
  • Cinnamon, if desired

Directions
  1. Drain all cans of fruit. Peel and slice bananas and apples. Slice strawberries. Combine remaining ingredients. Sprinkle with cinnamon, toss and serve.

I know that many think that a "real" fruit salad has to be 100% fresh fruit. But I grew up on a fresh fruit salad with canned peaches, fruit coctail, or pears as the base. Even though I often drain most of the juice, the canned fruit and juice tend to blend all of the fresh fruit that you add together. An only fresh fruit salad feels "unfinished" to me- It's like a bowl of separate individual flavors, rather than a salad.
