How to make it

  • Preheat burner to high
  • Zest half an orange and measure out 1 tsp zest
  • Juice the oranges and dump into the pan with all of the spices
  • Bring to a boil and add sugar
  • Allow mixture to bubble up for 2-4 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Remember to stir constantly.
  • Remove from heat and add butter, stir in and set aside to cool for 5-15 minutes.
  • To use as syrup: use after 5 mintues of cooling.
  • To use as glaze: use after 15 minutes of cooling.
  • Keep in mind, it well set into a hard glaze after it has completely cooled but it makes a great syrup while it's hot.

    Mmmmm thanks! My mom used to make an orange glaze that she would put on a carrot cake ... sounds different but it was really good.
