How to make it

  • Cream shortening/butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs one at a time and beat until thoroughly blended.
  • Sift together: flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • Combine milk and vanilla and add to the creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients.
  • Stir in oats, raisins,and nuts.
  • Spoon into 2 greased 4" x 7 1/2" loaf pans.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Turn out pans onto a wire rack.
  • Let stand over night before slicing.
