Baked-in Beef Burgers

- beef mix: shopping list
- 3/4 pound ground beef shopping list
- 3/4 cup minced onion shopping list
- 1/2 cup diced celery shopping list
- 2 tablespoon shortening shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1/3 cup tomato sauce shopping list
- flour mix: shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 3 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon marjoram shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon sage shopping list
- 1/4 cup shortening shopping list
- Other: shopping list
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce shopping list
- water shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- For beef mixture brown ground beef, onion, celery, in the shortening.
- Add salt, pepper, and tomato sauce. Cook until it is thickened. Cool.
- For flour mixture sift together flour, baking powder, salt, marjoram and sage. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course meal.
- Combine the other tomato sauce with enough water to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture, mixing only until all the flour is dampened. Knead gently on a floured board for a few seconds.
- Roll out to 12x9 inch rectangle. Spread with cooled beef mixture.
- Roll as for jelly roll, starting with 9inch side.
- Place on greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 30-35 mins.
