How to make it

  • Marinate okra in buttermilk for about an hour; drain well.
  • Over medium high heat, add enough oil or drippings to coat the bottom of a very large skillet or cast iron pan.
  • Combine flour, salt, pepper and cayenne. Dredge okra in flour mixture. Add to hot oil and fry, turning occasionally, until nicely browned, about 30 minutes.
  • Serve.
