This is a test subject, in my attempt to create a better "Banana Split Cake" recipe then the one with just graham cracker, cool whip, and pineapple? I dont think that recipe tastes like a banana split. Read more This one turned out pretty good! See less

Ingredients

1 18.25 0z box Strawberry cake mix shopping list
1 3.4 oz box instant banana flavored pudding/pie mix shopping list
18 oz. can crushed pineapple shopping list
1/2 container Cool Whip shopping list
1 cup milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips shopping list
1 cup chopped peanuts (optional) shopping list
maraschino cherries (optional) shopping list

How to make it

Make Strawberry cake mix as directed on box, mix in chocolate chips, bake. Let cool completely.
Mix banana pudding mix as directed on box, let sit until thickened. Stir crushed pineapple into pudding, mix until well blended. Mix 1/2 container of Cool whip into pudding mixture, spread on top of cake. Refrigerate for at least one hour, or overnight.
Top with peanuts and a cherry before serving.

The picture is misleading. I forgot to mix the Coolwhip with the pudding before spreading on cake. :)
