How to make it

  • First what you want to do is start up the water for the noodles. I use about 4 cups of water in a large pot. Heat water to boiling and add rice noodles. The noodles won't take a long time to cook. Turn the heat to medium high. Allow the noodles to boil. After washing them throughly start chopping your green onions in 1/4 inch slices and remove the roots on the end tips. I usually only use the green tops and I toss the bottoms, but you can use them if you want to. In a sauce pan, add in water and your broccoli florets. Boil them until they reach your desired consistancy. But it is best to stop boiling them and drain them off when they are slightly soft.(If you are like me and you like broccoli super soft, then add them into the noodle pot and allow them to further cook with the noodles. If you like broccoli to be semi soft, then add them in before serving.) After the noodles reach the soften stage, pour in the chicken broth and add in the butter/margarine and stir until the butter melts. Reduce heat to medium. I personally use a few shakes of Onion powder and a few shakes of Garlic powder. for a little extra "umph", but you can use black pepper or whatever fits your tastes. At this point, if you are using garlic go ahead and add that into the broth and noodles. Stir in your green onions. Allow to simmer while stirring occasionally. After a few minutes. Add in the soy sauce and the terriyaki.
  • Open and drain all the juice off the chicken. Take a bowl and only doing one can at a time, dump the chicken in the bowl and mash the pieces until they become smaller. Afterward, toss the chicken in your noodle pot. Make sure you stir the chicken to dispense it equally throughout the pot. Allow the noodles to cook on medium while stirring every few minutes to allow the green onions to become softened. Take the pot off the burner and allow to sit for about 5 minutes before serving. *Optional- (You can substitute beef or pork in place of chicken.- I personally do not eat pork, but I have used a piece of beef roast that I grilled and then cut into fajita-style strips about 2 inches long and it worked out really well. You just want to precook the beef with another method, and you don't want to introduce it in until you are ready to serve.)
  • *Bon Appetit*
