- MOLASSES-CARAMEL TREATMENT
- I tried the molasses/caramel treatment on 2 month post hair. I made my own caramel base and applied it on dry hair. Then continued to shampoo/deep condition/rollerset/ flat iron. I'm very pleased with the results and this will definitely be apart of my regime during stretching. I read that u shouldn't do this every wash. so the next time i will do this treatment will be in another 3-4 weeks.
- the whole purpose of this treatment was to loosen my NG as well as add a lil moisture to it. It did just that however u need to add direct heat when doing this. ur NG will not straighten on it's own. This is not like a chemical application but the reults are very close.
- *UPDATE 12-1...I've realized that this treatment is more than trying to straighten NG. It has an unbelievable way of keeping NG moisturized for a longer period of time as well as keeping it soft and manageable. if it wasn't for this treatment i would of never been able to stretch 12 weeks. i'd recommend this to anyone who needs an extra boost of softness and moisture to ng during a stretch or transition.
- **************UPDATED TIP '08****************
- - when applying the product, try best to keep it off of ur scalp. I know my fotki pics shows me plastering the caramel on my hair any ol' way. But the fact that the product sits on ur scalp for a period of time can cause you to get flakes/buildup even after ur wash.
- -the best (and appropriate) way to apply it is to take a section of hair, pull it AWAY from ur scalp, then proceed to put the caramel on ur ng. Less product gets on ur scalp this way and helps keep flakes low.
- -it is possible to use a shampoo with a sulfate in it. I actually clarified when i shampooed the caramel out and got the same results in the end. So if ur not skilled with applying product away from ur scalp. and u don't want flakes in the end...try a sulfate.
