Ingredients

  • Heirloom tomatoes (or a pint of grape tomatoes), sliced (my niece used a variety of grape tomatoes, sliced in half) shopping list
  • Fresh basil, leaves carefully chopped as not to bruise (sliced works also) shopping list
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced, or your choice,( goat cheese was my niece's choice in small chunks) shopping list
  • Extra virgin olive oil shopping list
  • Balsamic wine vinegar shopping list
  • Salt and pepper shopping list

How to make it

  • Assemble the salad with slices of tomatoes, basil leaves, and mozzarella slices. Sprinkle extra virgin olive oil over the salad. Add a dash of vinegar and a very light sprinkling of salt and pepper. For a completely different flavor, you can substitute the mozzarella( or your choice) with thin slices of fresh Parmesan.
