The Ultimate Swiss Chard Recipe

- 2 to 3 large bunches of swiss chard or other tough greens. shopping list
- 4 oz slab bacon shopping list
- 2 onions, sliced shopping list
- 4 oz sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1/4 cup 10% cream shopping list
- 1 tbs worchestershire sauce or soy sauce shopping list
- 1/4 cup cheese (your choice) shopping list
How to make it
- Rinse the greens well to remove any grit and dry well.
- Remove and dice the tough stalks.
- Slice the leaves into strips
- Dice the bacon into lardons (little chunks)
- In a large saute pan or wok saute the bacon over a medium high heat until almost cooked.
- Add the onion and diced stalks and cook until translucent.
- Add the garlic and saute until fragrant.
- Add the mushrooms and worchestershire sauce cooking until almost done.
- Add the leaves and stir well cooking until wilted.
- Lower the heat to medium low.
- Add the cream and cheese (I like parmesan or cheddar) stirring until well blended in the pan.
- Continue cooking until the sauce thickens a little.
- Salt and Pepper to taste.
