Crockpot Chinese Roasted Chicken

- 1 stalk celery, cut into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 4 inch piece ginger root, coarsely chopped shopping list
- 3 green onions shopping list
- 1 4 to 5 pound roasting chicken shopping list
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce shopping list
- 2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder shopping list
How to make it
- Place trivet or steamer basket in 4 to 5 quart crockpot. Rinse chicken and drain well, then pat dry with paper towels. Place celery, ginger root and green onions inside chicken.
- In small bowl, combine soy sauce and five spice powder to make a paste. Rub this mixture over the chicken. Place chicken on trivet inside crockpot.
- Cover crockpot and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, until chicken is tender and juices run clear when pricked with fork. Discard vegetables inside chicken.
