Ingredients

How to make it

  • Drain the cherries, saving the juice.
  • Cut cherries in half.
  • Add enough milk to cherry juice to make one cup.
  • Combine sugar, butter, egg and milk - juice mixture.
  • Beat well.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients and stir only until mixed.
  • Add nuts.
  • Fold in cherries last.
  • Bake in greased Loaf pan 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
  • ** You can also cut the cherries up into quarters instead of half's and make up some small loaf sizes of this bread as gifts. Pecans can also be substituted for the walnuts if you prefer.

Thanks for the recipe, Dee. This is very like one my mom used to make years ago, that I never got the recipe for. Hers had almond extract, as well. I can't wait to try it!
