Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cook the wild rice according to package directions drain and reserve rice. Takes about 45 minutes
  • In a soup pot saute the bacon until slightly crisp. (don't drain the fat)
  • Add the butter to the bacon and melt
  • Add the garlic, onion,carrots, and celery. Saute over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  • Add the flour to the vegetables, stir in well and cook another 3 to 4 minutes
  • Add the chicken broth to the pot
  • Bring to a boil and reduce immediately to low simmer.
  • Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Add the chicken and wild rice. Heat to 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the pepper, wine, and Worcestershire sauce. Heat 5 more minutes
  • Stir in 2 cups half and half. Heat for a minute but do not boil.
  • Check for seasoning and add salt as needed
  • Serve with warm biscuits or rolls
