Ingredients
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 4 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 1/4 cups bran flakes cereal
  • Icing:
  • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • About 3 to 4 Tbsp confectioners' sugar
  • Chopped peanuts for rolling

Directions
  1. Mix all ingredients except those for icing together using a wooden spoon ~ don't use an electric mixer; you want the cereal to remain as intact as possible.
  2. Roll into bite-sized balls and set aside.
  3. Prepare icing: Gently melt chocolates and butter together. Stir in enough confectioners' sugar to make a dipping consistency.
  4. Set chopped peanuts into a shallow container.
  5. Dip balls in chocolate and roll in chopped peanuts. Set on a wire rack to allow chocolate to set, while beating back the hordes with your wooden spoon!
  6. Makes about 3 dozen, depending on the size.
