How to make it

  • In a small pan, heat hoisin, honey, ginger root and garlic over medium heat. Simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat. Reserve 1 cup sauce (NOTE: Save 1/4 cup sauce to brush buns with later!) .
  • Lightly score hot dogs diagonally with a knife. Brush the hot dogs liberally with the sauce.
  • Preheat grill to a medium heat. Cook dogs for 10 minutes or so, basting with sauce frequently. Toast buns. Brush buns with 1/4 cup of the reserved hoisen sauce, place hot dogs in buns, add chopped green onions.
