How to make it

  • Fry bacon until crisp.
  • Keep warm in the oven while apples cook.
  • Discard all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat.
  • Sauté apples uncovered in remaining bacon fat for 8 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.
  • Arrange apples on a platter surrounded by bacon.
