How to make it

  • 1. In a bowl combine the dates and water and let stand for 15 minutes (do not drain).
  • 2. In another bowl cream the butter and the brown sugar, add egg and mix well.
  • 3. Combine flour, baking soda and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternating with the dates and liquid. Stir in walnuts
  • 4. Pour into a greased 8 x 4 x 2 loaf pan.
  • 5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack
