Walnut-date Bread

- 1 cup chopped dates shopping list
- 1 cup boiling water shopping list
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened shopping list
- 1 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup chopped walnuts shopping list
How to make it
- 1. In a bowl combine the dates and water and let stand for 15 minutes (do not drain).
- 2. In another bowl cream the butter and the brown sugar, add egg and mix well.
- 3. Combine flour, baking soda and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternating with the dates and liquid. Stir in walnuts
- 4. Pour into a greased 8 x 4 x 2 loaf pan.
- 5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack
