How to make it

  • Put cherries and sugar into a large saucepan and stir gently until juices begin to form.
  • Cook slowly until thick then remove from heat and add food coloring, extract and lemon juice.
  • Cook 15 minutes longer then pack hot in sterilized jars.
  • Seal with sterilized lids and rings then process in boiling water bath 20 minutes.
  • Cool then test the seal and store in a cool dark place to preserve the rich color.
