- 2 lb raisins shopping list
- 1 lb currants shopping list
- 4 oz walnuts shopping list
- 4 oz mixed peel shopping list
- 4 oz dates shopping list
- 4 oz almonds shopping list
- 8 oz glazed cherries shopping list
- 3 1/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1/2 lb butter shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup molasses shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 2 tsp cream of tartar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cloves shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 12/ tsp lemon extract shopping list
- 1 cup sour milk or buttermilk shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees farenheit.
- Cut up walnuts, mixed peel, dates, almonds, and glazed cherries.
- Put the fruit in one bowl with some of the flour to coat.
- Cream butter, brown sugar, and molasses together.
- Add eggs one at a time and beat.
- Add baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, and spices.
- Add fruit juices from mixed peel and cherries with the vanilla and lemon extract.
- Add portions of flour and sour milk alternately, beating well between additions.
- Add floured fruit and nuts to the batter and mix well (with hands).
- Grease pans, line with one layer of foil or wax paper, grease again, and pour batter within one inch from top.
- Put pan of water on lower shelf of oven.
- Bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours for smalll, up to 4-5 hours for large.
