Ingredients

How to make it

  • You will need a string of twine,a screw(or) washer, a writing pencil,plus a clear glass jar.
  • When making the sugar gliders (rock candy) keep in mind that the syrup gets extremly hot,so you will need adult supervision in case little hands want to help.
  • Strike a fire and heat the water to a boil.
  • Completely dissolve the sugar in the boiling liquid, stirring all the while until it grows clear, and reaches a rolling boil.
  • Pour into clear glass jar.
  • Attach the screw(or) washer on one end of the string of twine, and the writing pencil on the other end, trying it in the middle of the pencil, allowing it to be about two thirds as long as the jar is deep.
  • Dip into the sugar solution, remove, lay it on a piece of waxed paper, and then straighten it out.
  • Allow to dry for a few days.
  • Very gently suspend the prepared string into the sugar solution once more, check it each, and everyday to study the crystals forming on the string, great teaching fun in the field of crystallography. You will want to touch...but DO NOT...not until the experiment is finished.
  • Seven days should do it.
  • All the sugar molecules are going to fit together at sharp right angles and smooth areas of different sizes.
  • You may add a flavoring of your choice to the syrup before making your sugar gliders (rock candy)
  • ~but~
  • If using it for... say...the 'Rock and Rye'
  • I would want the Rye,Rum,and Apple Cider speaking to the spices, and the sugar glider tend to the sweets.
  • Rock Candy is one of the purest forms of candy...used once-up-on-a-time my pharmacists to make medicines for what ills you...So you see.
  • To quote...MARY POPPINS..."It's a snap"
  • "A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down,in a most delightful way"
