How to make it

  • Place chocolate and butter in large bowl;add boiling water and stir till smooth. Stir in sugar,buttermilk,egg and extracts. Combine flour,baking soda and salt;beat into chocolate mixture till just blended.
  • Transfer to 9" round baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350' for 18-22 mins or till toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 mins before removing from pan to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Place rack on waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
  • For ganache:Place chocolate in small bowl. In small saucepan,bring cream just to a boil. Pour over chocolate;whisk till smooth. Coo 10 mins or till slightly thickened.
  • Slowly pour ganache over cake,allowing some ganache to drape over sides. Refrigerate till serving. Cut into wedges.
