Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine the first 5 ingredients...mix well.
  • Cut in the shortening until it looks like coarse meal.
  • Combine the egg and milk...add to the flour mixture...stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Turn out onto a lightly dusted surface...knead about 8 to 10 times.
  • Roll out to one inch thickness.
  • Cut with a 3 inch biscuit cutter.
  • Place on a ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes,or until nice and golden.
  • When these where first made,my Dad called them "Two Biscuits Tacked On A Shingle" they are just good ole' country mile-hile biscuits. They are nice with homemade preserves, red eye gravy or just plain butter.
  • No matter how you stack em' or fling em' through the air...They are DANG GOOD BISCUITS!
