How to make it

  • Combine milk, 1/2 t. vanilla, and 1 t. cinnamon in a saucepan; heat over low heat, bringing to a slow boil. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugars. After milk mixture has boiled, pour it a little at a time into the egg mixture, whisking as you go. Pour mixture into saucepan & heat over medium heat for 3 minutes (do not allow to boil again). Remove from heat and pour into the bowl, allow to cool to room temperature. Stir in rum, half and half, 1/2 t. vanilla, and 1/2 t. cinnamon. Refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours before serving.
