How to make it

  • Set water to boil in large pot for pasta. Cook to the lesser time that is recommended on packaging. (ie, if it says 7-9 minutes, cook it for 7:)
  • Meanwhile, in large, preferably stovetop and oven safe(I used well seasoned cast iron), cook sausage, or other meat, mushrooms, onion, and garlic with a drizzle of olive oil. See Photo
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until done and onions are tender.
  • Drain slightly, if needed.
  • Add pasta sauce and a few fresh herbs, if using, and stir well to combine. See Photo
  • Add cooked, drained pasta and toss, again. See Photo
  • Top with cheese slices and either let heat for a few minutes on the stove top to melt cheese, and thicken dish, slightly...or toss it in the oven at 400 for about 10 minutes to do the same. See Photo
  • Serve with crusty bread and a salad :)
