How to make it

  • Cover a large cookie cookie with foil, grease foil.
  • Sprinkle chopped pecans on pan if desired.
  • break up chocolate into a glass bowl, ready to melt quickly in the microwave.
  • Melt butter in a Dutch Oven. Do NOT use teflon!
  • Add the sugar and stir constantly with a wooden spoon.
  • The butter and sugar will slowly combine, separate, and combine again.
  • Once combined for good and a toffee color (around 330 degrees on a candy thermometer), pour into cookie sheet and spread it out.
  • Microwave the chocolate for 2 minutes, or melt as desired.
  • Once ready, spread over the top of the toffee.
  • Let cool in refrigerator .
  • Once cool, break into pieces to serve.
