How to make it

  • Boil potatoes in jackets.
  • When done, peel & cut into small pieces (skip this step if you're using baby potatoes).
  • In a suitable bowl, combine potatoes, tumeric, salt, ground sesame seeds, lime juice, half of the green cilantro and water and mix thoroughly.
  • In a small pan heat oil and add cumin seeds and red chilies.
  • Fry them until brown and then add jalepeno pepper.
  • Let it cook for a minute or so.
  • Pour it over potatoes in the bowl and mix them thoroughly; garnish with remaining cilantro.

    Nice simple version of one I've tried with Nepali friends. I'd like to simplify further to make for my parents-in-laws' anniversary party...will dry fry sesame, turmeric and cumin then blend with salt & liquids. My friends also add at the end diced raw cucumber and carrot for a lovely cooling crunch. Thanks bahini!
