Ingredients

How to make it

  • Chop onion,celery...not to large,not to small.
  • Brown off the sausage...then saute the onion and celery in the drippings.
  • Quarter the dried fruit.
  • In your largest blue speckled enamelware...a hand-me-down from Grandma...you may want to add a wee bit more spice, beside what it comes with...maybe sage, ect.
  • Place the bread cubes and their spice into the stock pot,add some of the sausage, onion, and celery mixture, sliced green apple, some kind of dried fruit, raisins, and nuts.
  • Your going to be layering this...with each package of bread cubes, repeating the above instructions, doing this until all the dry ingredients are used up.
  • Add the melted butter, and broth, mix until you obtain the desired texture or moisture you like, stuff the turkey, placing the extra dressing alone side.
  • With fresh apple cider, and the other fresh butter, melt the two together, stir, and baste every 30 to 45 minutes until the turkey is nice and done.
  • Make gravy in usual manner.
  • Have you ever had a outdoor cooked turkey...it's mighty good...just bank the coals and place the drip pan,to catch the drippins' for the gravy.
  • Now... I like my turkey with all the usual specified sides...don't forget the drop-in-rolls...and of course...Dessert!
