Italian Meatballs And Sauce

- Sauce: shopping list
- 1 medium onion-chopped shopping list
- 1 tblsp. olive or vegetable oil shopping list
- 1-2 cloves garlic-minced shopping list
- 1 28oz can crushed tomatoes shopping list
- 2 tsp. parsley shopping list
- 1 tsp. basil shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. oregano shopping list
- 1-2 tsp. sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt-or to taste shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper-or to taste shopping list
- 2 6oz cans tomato paste shopping list
- Meatballs: shopping list
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup bread crumbs shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/4 cup milk shopping list
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- dash of pepper shopping list
- 1 tblsp. parsley shopping list
How to make it
- Sauce:
- In a dutch oven or a deep skillet, saute onions and garlic in oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes and spices. Mix well and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste and 4 cans of water. Simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
- Meatballs:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
- Mix well using your hands.
- Form mixture into meatballs. Make them whatever size you prefer.
- Brown meatballs in a 350 degree oven for 8 minutes.
- Drain, then add meatballs to sauce.
- Simmer for 1 hour.
- Serve hot over pasta.
- Note:
- I use a combination of ground beef and pork sausage for the meatballs. Experiment with whatever meat combination you like. Enjoy!
