How to make it

  • In a big saucepan heat the butter and oil. Throw in the onions and the cabbage cook on medium/low heat, stirring frequently so all the veggies get a turn or 2, on the bottom Cover, and simmer for about an hour when the volume is reduced. Now add the rest of the ingredients (except the pork) and continue to simmer, stirring every half hour. Cook until the cabbage is "tender". (about 2 hours.
  • Place the pork pieces on top of the cabbage, and replace lid. continue to simmer for 2 1/2 hours --until meat is very tender.
